1. Why is the FastDesign web design service different from all the others?

We're different because we don't treat our customers like idiots! A new web site should not cost the Earth but some web design companies take their customers for a ride by charging huge sums for something that, on a basic level, isn't hard to provide. We know that you know this and we offer our professional design service at a no-nonsense price. There are other fixed price web design providers around, but many force you to choose from a preset template - it makes it easier and cheaper for them, but may not be exactly what you want. Our web site designs are all bespoke and designed from the ground up to fit your requirements exactly.

2. Once I've decided on a FastDesign package, what happens next?

Just contact us to discuss your requirements and we'll either call or visit you (at your convenience) to find out exactly what you want your new web site to achieve and any preferences you have as to the look, feel and operation of the site (if you've seen another web site that you like then let us know as it can be a big help in understanding your requirements). We take a 33% deposit which engages our design services. We then produce a number of outline designs incorporating your and our ideas which are used as a discussion tool to refine the final site design. At this stage we agree a delivery date and take a further 33% payment which enables us to secure your domain name and hosting package with our hosting partner. Taking any content you already have (text, photos, graphics such as logos, promotional literature) we produce the site to the agreed design and timetable, keeping you informed of progress. Once the site has been completed and tested by ourselves, you get to test drive it on our testing server to check that conforms to your vision and expectations. After and modifications we will then invoice you for the remaining 33% payment. Once this has cleared we set the site live (this includes uploading it to the host web server and submission to many popular search engines and directory sites). Our 12 month support package then commences.

3. How long will it take to get me online?

We endeavor to get you online as quickly as possible, after all the longer it takes the longer your prospective customers can't see you. We will agree time scales at the very beginning of the process but the more you can contribute by way of content (text, images etc) the shorter the delivery time will be. Typically we will aim to get your site live within 5 weeks of our initial contact.

4. I already have a domain name and/or web host, do I get a discount?

We recognise that you may already have paid for a domain name or hosting package but either want a completely new web site or have not yet got around to designing your first one. We will discount the total price by £5 if you have a domain and £25 if you have hosting. Please do keep in mind that FastDesign uses 1&1 Internet for domain names and hosting, one of the biggest, most reliable and best value web hosting providers around.

5. What happens after the initial 12 month period? Will FastDesign still support me and my web site?

The easy answer is - it's up to you! We offer a range of support contracts that include updates, performance reports & maintenance, hosting and more (talk to us about our web site maintenance service). What's more, if your site was originally designed by us and you've had maintenance solely from us for 12 months or more, you'll get a 20% discount on all our support packages. We will contact you when your free or paid for maintenance period is about to expire to discuss your options. If you no longer require our services just let us know - you can be safe in the knowledge that your site has been designed with future maintenance in mind, making it simple to continue without us if you so wish. Web site maintenance packages from FastDesign, a great way to keep your web site up to date and beating your competitors, start from just £9.99 per month.

6. I know nothing about computers or web design, does that matter?

You don't need to know anything, that's what we're here for. We let you get on with running your business while we take care of the design. We will contact you during the design process if we need content (text, images etc) or other information to help us but we are happy for you to have as much or as little involvement as you want. If you have a question or just want to catch up during the design process, please call us - we'll be happy to talk.

7. I need to sell my products through my web site, can FastDesign help?

We can advise you on the options available for selling online (which are many and varied). From eBay to a dedicated e-Shop with our hosting partners, to a branded merchandise outlet (great for clubs). Contact us to discuss your needs.

8. Are there any extra charges?

All charges for web site design are shown clearly on our site and that includes ALL design - content creation (buttons, backgrounds, graphics & text), layout, hosting, search engine optimisation & submission - if fact everything listed in the details of our packages). The only charges we will make above this is for images or content that you want to use but do not own the copyright for (stock images available from image libraries for example). If such content is necessary (and it will become apparent early in the design process if it is) then we will obtain prices and gain your approval on this prior to any purchases taking place. If you need any product, premises, staff or any other photography for use on the site and in your marketing literature we can recommend and book a professional photographer as needed (again with your prior agreement).

9. Will my web site be No. 1 on Google and other search engines?

We don't promise this, and anyone who does promise you this is lying as there is no guarantee that this can be achieved. We have extensive experience of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) which we bring to bear on all of our client's sites to get the best placing possible, along with submission to local free web directories to increase links to your site (an important part of improving your site's ranking in the search results). We can also help with search marketing, such as with Google Adwords - a pay-per-click advertising system in use very successfully by many companies around the world to increase search rankings and sales. SEO is an on-going process over the lifetime of a website and patience is required - it can take many months for your site to be visible on the search engines. As part of our included 12 month support package on new sites, or bolt-on maintenance packages we continually monitor and regularly adjust the pages in your web site to improve your search rankings.

10. Who owns the copyright and design files of the finished site?

Once you have completed payment for your web site we will send you a disk with all of the files created for your project. You then own all rights to your site and it's content. We will retain copies of this data so that we can support and update your site as required, and also as an off-site backup of your copy should you need it. If you do not want us to hold this data, please ask during the final payment process.
